Junior foster application
Steps to becoming a Junior Foster Parent
- Complete the application and watch orientation video – Once you complete the questionnaire below, you will receive an email with a link to watch our 20-minute foster orientation video. Both the youth and parent should watch the orientation video. Be sure to check your junk folder, and email volunteer@ddfl.org if you don't receive a communication within 24 hours.
- Phone Interview – Together, both the youth and parent will have a phone interview with a Dumb Friends League representative to discuss additional program details, as well as what types of animals you're interested in fostering. Please be aware that it may be up to 60 days until you hear from us to schedule an interview.
- Attend Foster 101 - New foster parents attend a training to learn volunteer policies and procedures, safe animal handling, and how to take a foster animal home. Both the youth and parent will attend this class. We also offer ongoing training classes for young kittens, animals with medical needs as well as behavior fosters.
- Virtual Home Inspection - PACFA requires that all foster parents have an annual home inspection, these are currently conducted virtually. This will be scheduled after training has been completed.
